Hans Art For Kids
Many children are born with extraordinary perceptions of the world and consider that life is all about visual creative expression in the form of drawings, paintings and sculptures. Art Encounters understands that art is the realm of passion, eccentricity and expression and for many creative children and teenagers; it is an essential part of who they are. Hans Art recognizes both innate talent and the need to express a children’s inner world and feelings that is harnessed and built through the study of art. We at Hans Art aim to bring this out of our young students. With experienced and proficient teachers who are trained in our teaching methods, your child’s best creative potential will be brought out in our well organized and time tested classes. Our school runs art programs for pre-school, primary and secondary school students as well as our ever popular school holiday programs and amazing birthday party packages.
Each class begins with the instructor introducing the subject matter and materials to the entire class. Students then receive individualized instruction tailored to their own skill level, learning new techniques and exploring concepts in greater depth as their understanding improves. This approach maximizes the total amount of instruction time for each student while also allowing students to learn from one another.
Students are taught how to directly observe objects in their surroundings and the techniques required to accurately render qualities such as form, color, lighting, shadow, reflection, texture, proportion, and perspective.
Students get to explore a variety of art materials including charcoal, ink, oil pastels, soft pastels, watercolors, acrylics, and markers. This variety expands the artistic possibilities and allows a child to explore different media and how they behave. No child is expected to become the master of any or all of these media, but the experience with each helps them expand their artistic voice and opens up greater appreciation for artwork by others found in museums or created by their fellow classmates.
Teachers at Hans Art Gallere encourage artistic expression by allowing children to use the media they have experimented with in ways that are truly unique. Our instructors make sure that children know that drawings are not always supposed to look like photographs, but are each person’s view of the world. Children’s drawings become expressions of how and what each child sees. Artistic risk taking, experimentation, and the development of meaning are intrinsic to making art, and children can begin to understand these concepts through their own artistic efforts.
Our students develop a historical understanding of great artists, works, movements, and art from different cultures. Our program also covers the vocabulary of art, different elements of art and principles of art design.
